  Dubai, UAE – 2026: The United Arab Emirates has introduced a significant update to its immigration compliance framework by standardizing visa overstay fines across all Emirates and visa categories. The reform, implemented by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP), establishes a flat overstay fine of AED 50 per day for individuals who remain in the country beyond the validity of their visa. This replaces the previous system, under which penalties varied depending on visa type and issuing authority. Under the new regulation, the daily fine applies uniformly to tourist visas, visit visas, and residence permits. The penalty begins accruing from the first day following visa expiry and continues until the individual either exits the country or regularizes their immigration status.
